Spring League Update & Return to Play
23 May 2021 @ 9:45 PM by Andrew Park

Hi Footyseveners,

We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the great weather over this long weekend. We all wish we were back on the field playing the game we love and are hopeful that it won't be long until we're back underway. As the situation here in Ottawa (and Ontario) improves, we wanted to reach out and give you a quick update regarding our Spring/Summer leagues.

We were hoping for an immediate return of safe outdoor sports but unfortunately, it looks like we will have to wait until Phase 2 of the reopening in late June or early July. If there are any changes to the provincial timeline for sports, we are ready to get going right away and will update everyone as more information becomes available.

We've put together a short FAQ that covers some of the more general questions we've received.

When will the leagues begin? The provincial announcement allows for league games to resume in Phase 2 of the reopening plan, currently slated for late June or early July. The dates posted are based on the information we have received to date. They are subject to change and if we're able to start earlier, we are ready to get going as soon as we are permitted to do so.

Can I still register? Yes! We still have spaces remaining in all of our Spring/Summer leagues. Team and Individual registration is open. Click here for all league information.

Will my team play the full 8 game season? Yes, all Spring/Summer leagues will be played in their entirety.

Where will leagues be played? All Spring/Summer leagues will be played outdoors and games will be scheduled at Immaculata High School or Carleton University, as advertised.

Kids Soccer - Li'l Sambas Programs for Ages 4-10 years old

We launched our new L'l Sambas kids program a couple of months ago and had an incredible response with alrmost 300 kids already signed up to play in the spring program at Immaculata. We'll be partnering with Futuro Soccer Academy and those of you who have watched the Futuro Academy kids train before or after your Footy Sevens game will already have been amazed at the level of technique and attention to detail at each session. Those same core principles will be adapted to each age level to give an unrivaled start in the game for both beginners and kids with a little experience.

You can find full details of all of the programs and register  over on the new Li'l Sambas Soccer Website

Pickup Sports and Field Rentals

We are waiting to hear when we are allowed to reopen and what is or isn't allowed when we do: as soon as we are allowed to open for field rentals and for our popular pickup games, they will be available! Keep watching this space for updates.

THANK YOU! Needless to say, but we'd also just like to say a big thank you to all our members for your continued support throughout the pandemic. We couldn't do this without you and we're looking forward to getting back on the field.

If you have any questions about any of this or a specific league, drop us an email and we'll answer your questions to the best of our ability.
